Despite their 0-3 season opener, the Nanook volleyball team went into the GNAC/PacWest Crossover with high hopes last weekend.
The Nanooks started their first set of the weekend by falling behind California Baptist

University by nearly 10 points. They almost tied their first set, but ended up losing 25-22, and ultimately lost the game 0-3.
Things were looking a little better after the Nanooks won the first set of their game against the Academy of Art. Despite this, the Nanooks were no closer to winning than during their first game, and lost 1-3.
Friday’s game against Hawaii Pacific University had the Nanooks come close to tying in the first set, but they were beat after a run by Hawaii Pacific, and ended up losing 0-3.
The final game of the tournament took place on Saturday, against Azusa Pacific University. The Nanooks lost the first two sets, but halfway through the third, they managed to pull ahead and win 25-22. Azusa Pacific went on to win the fourth set, winning the game 3-1 against the Nanooks.
The Nanooks continue their travels next weekend with games in Oregon, they will face Concordia University in Portland on Sept. 17 and Western Oregon University in Monmouth on Sept. 19.
Their next home game will be against the University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves in the Patty Center on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m.
